The Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul is worth a look as it is the only medieval building in the city. This stunning piece of architecture dates back to the 15th century, although much work on it has gone on since then. The stained glass is particularly beautiful.
Spanning an impressive 18-acre site, the Sheffield Botanical Gardens have plenty of interest for its many visitors. The gardens date back to around 1836 and there are three elegant Victorian glasshouses onsite housing temperate plants. What’s more a recent multi-million pound restoration project means the gardens are now really at their best.
Sheffield has its fair share of art galleries to explore. The Graves Art Gallery that houses paintings by Turner and Nash, as well as more modern work from Picasso and Sir Stanley Spencer, is well worth a visit.
